Opening In Stages

April 30th, 2020

To Our Dear Patients,

We hope that you and your loved ones are staying comfortable during this challenging time. We’ve been thinking of you as we continue receiving updates from the Manitoba Dental Association (MDA) and Shared Health Manitoba. We’d now like to share some of these updates, and our recent thoughts with you.

Office Updates

As you may have heard in recent news, dental offices around Manitoba are set to reopen soon, including our office. This is certainly a relief for us, and we’re sure for many of you also! This said, despite this encouraging news, a reopening date is still unknown. We’re currently waiting for official guidelines to be released by the MDA as to “how” we should re-open, determine if or what additional measures are still to be taken, and notify you once a reopening plan and date have been set. At this moment, and for the past 6 weeks, we’re assisting patients who require emergency care (which includes treatment due to a significant infection, acute pain that cannot be managed pharmacologically, orofacial trauma or prolonged bleeding). It’s likely that our office will be opening in phases, focusing on patients with emergency and urgent care needs first. For all other patient needs, we ask for your continued patience until a fully-fledged plan is formed.

Once we’ve prepared our office and team for your safe return, we’ll be contacting you via email and telephone for appointment scheduling. Presently, we’re available by phone from 8 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday. Please don’t hesitate to call us with any questions or concerns. If you believe you may require emergency care, please contact us immediately. For answers to common dental concerns, and for more news related to COVID-19 & more, please visit the news section on our website.

When you see us next, we’ll have a slightly new look and some procedural changes. We may also have a modified schedule to continue to promote proper social distancing. Any changes or improvements we make are designed for the best and safest conditions for you and our team.

NEW: Teleconferencing Video Calls

Kildonan Crossing Dental Centre is now officially offering teleconferencing video calls allowing patients to schedule one-on-one virtual-meeting times with our doctors. To sit down with us while our doors are still closed, whether related to recent visits, pain management, treatment planning, or a new patient consult, we’re here, ready to serve you. Our goal is to offer our patients value – even if that means “outside” of the chair, webcam-to-webcam instead of face-to-face. This is a new & complimentary service we’re extending, which we may continue even after it’s ‘business-as-usual.’

Process for booking a teleconferencing call:

  • Visit https://www.kcdental.ca/teleconference/
  • Fill out the form, attach relevant pictures or files, and select a date & time. Note that we’re currently offering this service on limited days and times, which may change in the future based on demand.
  • You’ll see a screen that says “your form has been successfully submitted.”
  • Expect to receive an automated email within 1 business day of your request. This email will include the precise date & time of your scheduled virtual meeting and the necessary information for accessing your virtual meeting.

The teleconferencing service is available now! See our website today to be one of the first to submit a request, and be part of something new.

Preventative Care Right Now

Since many of you are seeing your regular care and preventive care delayed (notably check-ups and hygiene care) we want to minimize the chances of cavities, declining gum health, and breakdown of existing dental work. Therefore, your daily care is now more important than ever. Please ensure that you’re doing 2- minute brushing twice daily and flossing once daily. Please limit sugar-type snacks, juices and sport-drinks. Also, a good idea is to minimize fruit consumption to 2-3 servings per day.

On behalf of our entire team, we want to thank you for being our patients, and we appreciate your understanding and patience during this unusual time. We’re wishing you and your family’s health and safety, and look forward to seeing you when it’s safe to re-open.
